Processor Overclocking on the Enthusiast Level

The concept of overclocking within a PC eludes many. Two years ago, in my opinion, processor overclocking was something only extreme enthusiasts did in their spare time...Until i got a promotion at work and found myself with the funds to become an extreme enthusiasts. The bottom line is, overclocking is not as difficult as it seems.

The first step is understanding the system BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). The BIOS is stored on a chip and operates independently of the Operating System (OS) which--in the case of performance overclocking--is always Windows. there is a direct relationship between the BIOS and the Processor, and it is here where you manipulate the 1) Clock Speeds and 2) Multipliers to come up with your overclocked frequency.

The video below shows an overclocked PC, as well as its ability to handle a physics-intensive application--in this case, a computer game.
